Hong-Cin Liou obtained his bachelor and master degree from Mechanical Engineering in National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei, Taiwan. He came to Northwestern to pursue his Ph.D. in summer 2013 after working for about one year as a research assistant in Fracture Lab in NTU. His research interest focuses on non-destructive techniques of material and structure inspection. He has various experiences related to this area, including piezoelectric film sensor, digital image correlation, and laser ultrasonics. Beyond academia, he has multiple hobbies such as baseball, civil aviation, Chinese calligraphy, photography, and Japanese language.
